Description
L:14-15cm; W:21-25.5cm;
Bird that presents a pronounced sexual dimorphism. General brown colouration, with brown back and pale underparts. The male has a chestnut-coloured head and grey crown, reddish nape and neck, black bib and intense chestnut-coloured lesser coverts. Grey-brown female, whitish eyebrow and yellow base of the bill, paler grey auricular coverts, no black on throat and chest, and brown lesser coverts. Juveniles are very similar to females; they differ in the new plumage.
