Description
L:31-33cm; W: 47-55 cm;
Bird with a light earthy brown uniform color on its back; with a striking black collar trimmed in white on the sides of the neck; bill black underparts pinkish gray on breast, bluish gray on abdomen; light wings; gray tail, with white tips and edges; gray head; and reddish legs. The male has a grey-pink crown and nape; if the collar has feathers with clear tips they are white. The female has a gray-brown or gray-brown crown and nape; if the collar has light-tipped feathers, they are grey-brown. Juveniles: with back feathers and wing coverts edged pale cream; neck with poorly defined collar; gray or pink legs; brown iris.
