Description
L: 15-17cm; W: 42-45 cm;
Bird specialist of sandy beaches and salty lagoons of the interior. Brownish-grey upperparts; white underparts; breastband restricted to lateral patches, black in male, brown in female; reddish-brown crown, edged with black in the male; brown wings with a white band; dark beak and legs. Juveniles are browner, without black on the head.
