Domestic pigeons have their origin in the rock pigeon, conserving some of their characteristics: greyish plumage, iridescent green and purple patch on the neck, two wing bars, white rump and white underwing coverts. In any case the variation in the color of the plumage is very great. Both sexes have similar plumage, although the male is larger than the female.
