Hostería de Guara
Charming accommodation in the heart of Somontano
Located in the quiet village of Bierge, Hostería de Guara is a family-run hotel surrounded by nature, ideal as a base for exploring the Sierra y los Cañones de Guara Natural Park. Its traditional architecture and welcoming atmosphere offer a relaxing stay, with its own restaurant and personalised service. The accommodation combines comfort with sustainability and is very close to Alquézar, a medieval village of great beauty and heritage value.
Birding in the Sierra de Guara – A paradise for rock-dwelling birds
La Hostería de Guara is located in one of the most privileged areas for bird watching in Aragon. The Guara Natural Park is a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA) and is home to one of the highest densities of bearded vultures in Europe, along with griffon vultures, Egyptian vultures, golden eagles, peregrine falcons and other rock-dwelling species.
From the accommodation, there is easy access to several feeding stations for scavenger birds, such as those in Bierge (just 500 metres away), Santa Cilia de Panzano and Alquézar, where interpretive activities are organised. In addition, the area offers signposted birdwatching routes such as:
- Crestas del Balcés (Bierge)
- Peña Falconera (Morrano)
- Dolmen de la Losa Mora (Rodellar)
- Tozal de Mallata (Colungo)
- Mirador de Chimiachas (Alquézar)
Alpine birds such as the wallcreeper and the alpine accentor can also be observed, as well as species from river and steppe ecosystems on the banks of the River Vero and the Somontano. The Hostería collaborates with local conservation and environmental education initiatives and is an ideal meeting point for families, photographers and birdwatchers.
