Description
L: 12cm; W:21-25.5cm;
Colorful bird with a brown back and pale underparts; pale rump; black and white tail; black wings with a wide yellow band; head with a striking red, white, and black facial pattern. Male has more red on the face and throat and more black in front of the eye. Juveniles have uniform grey-white heads; without the flashy design of the adult.
