Description
L 28-21cm W: 66-73cm.
Robust-looking bird with a strong beak. The plumage ranges from the blue-green on the head to indigo in the central feathers of the tail or rump. In contrast, the back exhibits a reddish-brown tone. The design of both sexes is similar and becomes more conspicuous during the breeding season. It feeds on insects and small vertebrates. It breeds in holes both in trees and rocks. Long-distance migrants.
