Description
L: 62-69 cm; E: 160-175 cm;
Rapace au dos brun, pourvu d’une grande tête; quatre bandes foncées transversales au bout de la queue, plus large; gorge et poitrine sombres; parties inférieures blanches rayées de brun; pattes écaillées et bleutées; yeux jaunes. Il n’est pas possible de différencier les deux sexes par leur plumage ou leur taille. Il se présente sous deux formes: l’une sombre avec la gorge marron et les parties inférieures très barrées et l’autre claire avec les parties inférieures très blanches.
