Description
L: 21-22cm; W:37-42cm;
Short-tailed bird with a long, strong beak; features black plumage in summer with purple, green, and blue iridescence, yellow bill; and in winter, it shows off an intense plumage dotted with light spots and a dark bill. Both sexes are similar in plumage, but in winter, the male has a blue bill base and the female pink. Greyish-brown juveniles; whitish throat, pale streaked underparts; greyish beak.
