Description
L: 16-20cm; W: 38-43cm;
A winter visitor, the adult male of this species has breeding plumage with a chestnut back and a black belly; in winter both sexes have a gray back and a white belly; head with light eyebrow; wing with a white band; bill long and slightly curved; dark legs. The male with the nape grayer than the female. Juveniles: they have black spots on the flanks.
