In breeding plumage male with dark brown head and throat; sides of head and neck white; white breast; back feathers long and edged with cream; gray and vermiculate flanks; pale underparts; undertail coverts black; very long tail feathers; bill bluish gray. Female with brown plumage; pale underparts; bill bluish gray.
