Description
L: 34-37cm; W: 100-110cm;
Abundant species in winter, showing conspicuous breeding plumage. Adults in breeding plumage have brown head and white underparts, base of neck and tail, gray back and wings with white tip; red beak and legs. In winter plumage no brown on head, just a few spots near eye; legs orange yellow. Juveniles streaked ochre, with yellowish bill and legs.
