Description
L: 44-47cm; W: 80-92cm;
In bridal plumage with a long, hanging bow; tawny back; wings, rump and tail white; head and neck finely striped brown. In non-breeding plumage with duller colors and reduced topknot. Both sexes are similar in plumage. Juveniles: similar to adult, but with shorter, paler head and neck feathers streaked with dark brown; dull brown mantle and scapulars; tail feathers lightly mottled brown; inner secondaries brown; rachis of primaries brown; outer primaries tinged with ocher on outer webs and reaching tips; wing coverts mottled brown; yellowish beak
