Description
L: 70-90cm; W: 110-145cm;
Back and wing coverts slate, with chestnut scapulars in breeding plumage; underparts wine-brown; chestnut head and neck, with two lateral black stripes on the neck; bill and legs tending to yellowish. Similar plumage, if anything the male with a brighter purple mantle and scapulars than the female. Juveniles ocher back.
