Description

L: 18.5cm; W:33-37cm; Species that presents a marked sexual dimorphism during the breeding season; the rest of the year, both sexes are more similar, with discreet plumage; grey-brown upperparts; lower part of the back without white; underparts brown more orange in the male, striped brown. Both have a reddish tail. During the breeding season, the male with bluish head, neck; lower back white; reddish-brown underparts. The breeding female has a more orange underside. Juveniles similar to females, but greyer above and ocher below.
