Species linked to open humid areas with vegetation on the banks to breed. Both sexes are similar. Unmistakable due to its dark color and its long, downward-curving beak. Of a beautiful reddish color with green or purple iridescence; in winter, the adult has white spots on the head and neck. JuvenilW: It lacks brown and purple tones, it has white spots on the head and neck.
