L: 53-57cm; W: 85-90cm;
Anatidae linked to large wetlands with abundant marshy vegetation. Male with reddish-brown head; breast and rear of body black; flanks white; chestnut wings with a white band; red beak. Light brown female; upper part of head chestnut, lower part white; pinkish gray beak. Juveniles: Patterned similar to female but with narrow tail feathers; narrow greater coverts with rounded tips; dark gray bill; light brown iris
