Description

Back grey, mottled white and brown; brown face; flank grey, with abundant transverse barring; gray breast with a broad horseshoe-shaped spot on male, small or no spot on female. Male with reddish-brown face; capirote brown, with gray edge; back with gray-brown bottom; whitish abdomen.Female with less reddish face; heavily scratched hood; brown back. Juveniles without orange face, yellowish brown underparts streaked with light, with whitish throat and abdomen; flank longitudinally streaked with white; dark peak.
