L: 45-52 cm; E: 82-95 cm;

Plumaje casi totalmente blanco, con manchas ocres en el capirote, pecho y dorso en época nupcial, que se atenúan en invierno; patas, pico y ojos anaranjados en época nupcial,patas verde oscuro y pico y ojos amarillos el resto del año;Sexos con plumaje similar. Juveniles blanco puro sin manchas y patas oscuras
