Description

L: 17cm; W:24-27cm;

Bird that presents a significant sexual dimorphism. The adult male with a brown back, grey head and black mask; pale underparts, strong, hooked, black bill; the female has more discreet colours, an ocher head, a brown beak, no black on the face and scaled chest and flanks. Barred colour juveniles, similar to females but with a brown head and pale base of bill.
