Description
L:15-17cm; W:27-30cm;
Singular bird due to the peculiarity of its beak. It has a thick head and a low-cut tail; beak with curved and crossed mandibles. Brick-red male; greenish or yellowish female. Grey, dark-streaked juveniles with pale-tipped greater coverts; pointed tail feathers.
